Eurocopter sa 365 / as365 dauphin 2 (dolphin) is a medium-weight multi-purpose twin-engine helicopter manufactured by eurocopter (originally by aorospatiale). the as-365 n is a much improved version of the sa 365 c dauphin 2; the first prototype to fly on march 31, 1979. this version introduced the improved arriel 1c of 492 kw (660 shp) turbos; a retractile tricycle landing gear; expanded tail surfaces; and the revised transmission; the main rotor; the fairing of the rotor mast and the engine fairings. the initial mtow of the 3,850 kg (8,488 lb) aircraft was later raised to 4,800 kilograms (8,819 pounds). deliveries of the production model began in 1982.
