This detail shows a masonry expansion joint aligned with the window jamb. this is achieved by creating a soft joint at the end of the steel lintel angle; then carrying the brick expansion joint flush with the brick return. the flashing forms a 25mm min. (50mm preferred) vertical end dam where it terminates into the head joint at the end of the lintel. the wall has a 50mm clear air space for drainage; and weep vents are spaced at 600mm o.c. there is an air/moisture/vapour barrier on the cavity side of the cmu; and rigid insulation resides in the drainage cavity.
