The church “dives in misericordia” designed by richard meier; looks like a ship with sails unfurled. its three imposing 26-metre white concrete sails have a deep symbolism: they evoke the soul as a ship guided by christ or represent the church of john paul ii leading the faithful into the third millennium. the three majestic 26-metre white concrete sails lend themselves well to a symbolic reading; evoking the early christian image of the soul which; like a ship; heads towards the lighthouse of christ; although one could also give it the historical meaning of the pontificate of john paul ii and represent the church leading the faithful into the third millennium.
